When used
This signal is used by the Referee to indicate any one of several procedure fouls by the offense. These may occur before the snap (eg false-start) when the signal would be preceeded by the dead-ball signal (S7) or a live-ball foul such as an illegal formation.PenaltyIrregardless of whether this is a live or dead ball foul, the penalty will be 5 yards from the previous spot. How executed
Begin with both hands held in front of the chest so that they overlap, and then make a slow, circular motion with both hands so that they go around each other. Complete 4/5 circles.
Finally point to the offending team by streching an arm out from the shoulder to the horizontal. |
