Absolute minimum standards

It is proposed that a game should never start if any of the following minimum standards are not met:

  • field of play at least 80 yards long
  • field at least 150 feet wide
  • end zones at least 7 yards in depth

Leagues may choose to waive these requirements, under any or all of the following circumstances, provided notice is made before the start of the season:

  • in youth and junior leagues
  • where an emergency has forced a change of venue, or changes to the existing venue at short notice
  • if mutually agreed by the head coaches of both teams
