UK EMERGENCY ALERTS TEST 2025
On Sunday 7th September at 3pm, the government is going to test the Emergency Alert system. This will send a signal to most mobile phones that will involve a loud siren-like sound.
The test may happen in the middle of a game on Sunday so there may be some disruption to it. Disruption can be minimised by asking players, coaches, sideline staff and officials to turn their phones off completely before the game, where they can. (Note that setting a phone to silent won't be enough.)
However, there may still be distractions from phones belonging to spectators or left in bags in the team area. Referees are authorised to call a brief referee's timeout when the alert goes off while people attend to their devices.
Hopefully, the disruption to games will be slight, but being prepared will help.

Hertfordshire Cheetahs | Two changing rooms were provided. Both were a 2/3 mins walk from the field. Both were needed as Changing Room 1 (the larger one) was being used to store furniture and a physio/massage bench, which cuts down on the available space. Changing Room 2 was smaller, and the shower was broken. Keith Wickham #423 | Unknown |
London Warriors | The field (including team areas) was marked in blue except where a line from another sport was used, e.g., midfield. The lines were now easy to see. No numbers or nine-yard marks. The officials' changing room was a public changing room shared with the University gym and is a significant walk from the field. The box operator changed at the HL’s request during the first half. The entire chain crew and a ball person changed at halftime. Keith Wickham #423 | Unknown |
Manchester Titans | 90-yard field. No limit lines. Other sports markings were in close proximity to the end zones. The crew changing room was the venue media room, which, whilst spacious and comfortable, had no toilet or shower. David Hewitt #607 | 14th September 2025 v Rossendale Bucks |
Sheffield Giants | 90-yard field. No limit lines. No Nine-yard marks or numbers. No team areas marked out. There were several other sports markings on the field, some in close proximity to the end zones. The changing rooms were too small for a crew of eight. David Hewitt #607 | Unknown |
