New this week | ||
Birmingham Bulls | The changing room was a portakabin that was not large enough for a crew of eight. The field was missing nine-yard marks, but otherwise was very well marked. The away team had a couple of non-matching white jerseys due to not having enough alternate design jerseys Joel Pearson #405 | Unknown |
Birmingham Lions (NWFL) | Coaching box and team area marked with cones and (on one side) the numbers. Ball persons were provided very close to kickoff. The changing room was not locked during the game. Peter Parsons #321 | Unknown |
Edinburgh Napier Knights (U19) | 90-yard field. Henry Richardson #25 | Unknown |
London Warriors (NWFL) | Mostly blue markings on a multisports field. Some lines are white as they are used for other sports too. One ball person changed at halftime. One other ball person changed in the middle of the second half. Ben Gadsby #564 | Unknown |
Rushmoor Knights (U19) | 100-yard field marked to a high standard, barring a few oddities. The plane of the goals were far too wide as the posts are extensions to soccer goals. Changes to both the chain crew and ball assistants at halftime. Oliver Maskell #221 | Unknown |
Scunthorpe Alphas | 90-yard field. No limit lines. Team areas were incorrectly marked out between the 25-yard lines. Game balls required inflation prior to the game. The officials' changing room was a disabled toilet with no private shower or toilet. David Hewitt #607 | Unknown |
Somerset Wyverns | Hereford wore purple jerseys during warmups, which clashed with Somerset’s kit. However, they were able to change to grey jerseys prior to the coin toss. The changing room was a conference room, but it was neither private nor lockable. The chain broke several times. Euan Paterson #165 | Unknown |
Outstanding items from previous weeks | ||

MECHANICS: | |
New this week | Game Situation: On a 8 person crew, which officials should escort the team captains into the centre of the field for the coin toss?
|
Last week | Game Situation: On a 5 man crew, Team A take a timeout. Both teams huddle near their respective sidelines. Team B is on the press-box sideline. The Umpire informs the crew that the timeout is nearing its end and the wing officials on both sidelines encourage their respective teams to return to the field. Team A return to the field. The Line Judge has been reminding Team B that the timeout is expiring and they should return to the field, but they are still huddling around a Coach. The timeout expires and the ball is declared ready for play. Team A are ready and in position for their next offensive play, Team B are not. How should the officials react? Answer: If no players from Team B are ready to play when Team A is set to snap the ball following a timeout, penalise Team B for delay of game. Do not give Team A a free play (M3.4.1.c). The officials on the sideline are responsible for ensuring that the captain or coach of the team knows that the timeout is about to end (M3.4.1.c & M17.1.9.c). |
