TONY RIVERS #28

This week, we heard the very sad news that long-standing member, Tony Rivers, passed away following a long period of illness.  Tony joined BAFRA in the 1980s and was the scheduling officer for the Chiltern area for many years. This role eventually expanded to being the scheduling officer for the whole of the South of England and South Wales.  In the early 2000s, he moved to Ireland and continued his officiating there.  After a short break of membership, he rejoined BAFRA whilst still residing in Ireland and would come over here to work the occasional game when at home visiting his family in St Albans.  He also arranged for the Irish officials to sit the BAFRA exam for a number of years.  During his time as a BAFRA official, he was selected to two bowl games, on both occasions as a wing official.  This is a very sad loss to football and BAFRA sends condolences to all who knew him both inside and outside of BAFRA.
