Cambridgeshire Cats

Team areas were marked to the 25-yard lines.

Brian Yates #29

5th May 2024 v Solent Thrashers

Chester Romans

Due to serious traffic disruption, the visiting team were delayed in arriving, which resulted in the kickoff being slightly delayed. Team areas were absent. Some inbounds short yad line extensions were unevenly spaced.

Paul Todd #289

26th May 2024 v Sheffield Giants

Chester Romans (U19)

Kickoff was slightly delayed due to the non-arrival of the booked medics. Play was able to proceed after alternative medical cover was found to be available. Team areas were absent. Spacing of inbounds short yad line extensions was uneven in places. Otherwise, a well-marked 90-yard field marked in blue on green.

Paul Todd #289

26th May 2024 v Nottingham Caesars (U19)

Darlington Steam

Reasonably well-marked 100-yard artificial field. No nine-yard marks or numbers. Team areas were missing but both teams kept to the correct areas. Both goals were two yards behind the end lines but this didn't have any impact on the game. All three game balls were under-inflated and needed pumping up prior to use.

David Hewitt #607

19th May 2024 v Gateshead Senators

Derby Braves

The field was marked in blue but markings were clearly visible. Other sports markings were present. No team areas, other markings and cones were used in lieu.

Jed Brookes-Lewis #395

One change of personnel on the chain crew at halftime. Eight-yard end zones and a couple of wonky lines.

Joel Pearson #405

26th May 2024 v Wakefield District Raiders

East Kent Mavericks

90-yard field with five-yard end zones well marked in blue with other sports markings in white, red, and yellow. The field length was reduced to 80 yards to allow ten-yard end zones. No limit lines, numbers, or nine-yard marks. Team areas were the incorrect size and the coaching lines were at the incorrect depth. Well appointed, good size, lockable changing room but lacking separate facilities for a female official. Eight-minute delay to kick-off due to the late arrival of medical personnel.

Tim Ockendon #481

28th April 2024 v London Olympians

The game was suspended at 16:25 for 40 mins with 7:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, whilst an injured Ipswich player was attended to. It was reported that there would be a 1h45 wait for an ambulance. At 17:00 the Head Coaches agreed to shorten the fourth quarter to 0:00 due to concerns over the player and the possible 1900 restart.

Graham Smith #149

19th May 2024 v Cornwall Monarchs

Portsmouth Destroyers

90 yard field, with the hash marks, nine-yard marks, and goal lines repainted in orange. Sidelines and main lines are still the old orange/red colour and are faint but visible. One change of chain crew during the game, and ball person at half-time. The chain crew was generally inexperienced and slow. Changing rooms weren't lockable and were shared with teams (although they weren't present before and after the game.)

Oliver Maskell #221

Several holes were filled in before kick-off and other mess was dealt with on this public field. The chain crew and ball boys presented late and the away team were asked to provide a ball person for the game. The goals were too wide. The changing room was tight but ok and lockable.

Kenneth Glover #71

Edinburgh Wolves

Well-marked field, but team/coaching areas were marked to the 25-yard lines.

Ian Sneddon #427

5th May 2024 v Tamworth Phoenix

Humber Warhawks

90-yard field. No three-yard marks, nine-yard marks, or numbers. No limit lines. Team areas were marked out between the 24-yard lines. Several lines were wonky and one missing hash mark was added by the referee using aerosol paint. The field surface undulated in several areas, and whilst not a trip hazard, meant you had to be careful with your footing.

David Hewitt #607

28th April 2024 v Yorkshire Rams

Leigh Miners

Team areas were absent. Otherwise, a well-marked 90-yard field.

Paul Todd #289

12th May 2024 v Lancashire Wolverines

Lee Taylor #183

19th May 2024 v East Kilbride Pirates

80-yard field. There were other sports markings present, some of which were also in white but did not create an issue.

Lee Taylor #183

19th May 2024 v Chorley Buccaneers

Nottingham Caesars

Coaching' boxes were too close to the sideline. Other markings were in a similar colour (red) to the gridiron markings.

Joel Pearson #405

4th May 2024 v Leicester Panthers

Nottingham Caesars (U19)

Coaching' boxes were too close to the sideline. Other markings were in a similar colour (red) to the gridiron markings. One stoppage for 12 minutes due to neck injury.

Joel Pearson #405

14th July 2024 v Birmingham Lions

Rushmoor Knights (U19)

New venue. The changing room is just about big enough for a crew and was lockable. A couple of holes were discovered in the field surface on initial inspection. These were filled prior to the game. No limit lines. Marks were placed at the top and bottom of where the numbers should be. Both sets of hash marks in the middle of the field were uneven in terms of lining up with the inbounds lines. The goal posts at both ends were constructed from a soccer goal, so the crossbar was 8ft high and the uprights were 24ft apart. One ball person and two members of the chain crew changed at half time.

Peter Parsons #321

5th May 2024 v Somerset Wyverns

Solent Thrashers

100-yard field marked mostly in yellow, except the ten-yard lines at both ends which were in a much fainter blue line (used by another sport). This has been acceptable in previous seasons, however, because it's so faint the gameday manager at Solent was informed it needs correcting before the next game. Goals overhang endzones by one yard. Team areas were marked to the 25-yard lines.

Oliver Maskell #221

28th April 2024 v London Blitz

Somerset Wyverns (U19)

The officials’ changing room is sized for 3 people (maximum) and is not lockable. One change was made to the chain crew at half-time. In the third quarter, the game was suspended for approximately 30 minutes to treat an injured player.

Amir Brooks #593

19th May 2024 v Rushmoor Knights
