BUCS SEASON RULES & REGULATIONS
With the start of the BUCS season this weekend, a quick reminder of the situation about rules and regulations for that competition.
The 2023 rule changes that we are now familiar with (https://rules.bafra.info/docs/2023/BAFA/BAFA%20rule%20changes%202023.pdf) may not be familiar to BUCS coaches or players, so you may want to mention things like the revisions to blocking below the waist and mirrored eyewear in your pregame chat.
The rule changes about minimum numbers of players and coaches also apply to BUCS. The minimums are 18 players and 2 Level 1 coaches. Without those - no game.
These are the only significant changes to the competition-specific regulations (listed at http://rules.bafra.info/docs/leagueregs.htm).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Details of payments, which as always include the BAFRA and BAFA fees, will be on the form along with details on how to pay.
If you anticipate having difficulty in paying, please contact the Director of Finance (via finance@bafra.info) to discuss a payment plan. This will only be seen by the Director of Finance and his deputy in the strictest of confidence.
As always, there will be an annual survey of membership that goes along with the renewal process which you are requested to complete. Information gathered from this exercise is used to inform BAFRA policy going forwards.

PLAY OF THE WEEK: | |
New this week | Play: There are four seconds left on the clock in the third quarter. Team A kick-off from the A-35. B33 catches the ball at the B-12 and runs to the B-22 where he is tackled. A1 was offside at the kick. Time expires during Team A’s free kick.
|
Last week | Play: It is 4th and Goal at the B-5 yard line. Quarterback A12 receives the snap and runs to the B-2 where is hit and looses possession of the ball. A83 picks up the ball at the B-3 and runs into the endzone where he celebrates and makes a rude gesture to an opponent.
On fourth down, before a change of team possession, when a Team A fumble is recovered by a Team A player other than the fumbler, the ball is dead. As the recovery is behind the spot of the fumble, the ball is returned to the spot of the recovery. As this is short of the line to gain - the ball belongs to Team B. A83 is penalised for Unsportsmanlike Conduct from that Spot. |
MECHANICS: | |
New this week | Game Situation: In the week before the game, the officials note that Newsflash states that a home team player is suspended for the game. During the pre game meeting between the Head Coach, Referee & Umpire, the Home Team Head Coach states that he believes the player should not be suspended from the game.
|
Last week | Game Situation: 4th and 12 at the A40. Punter A4 kicks the ball downfield. The ball hits the ground and is rolling around as returner B22 makes a 'get away' signal by waving both arms at waist level. The ball is rolling at the B12 when B22 races to the ball and picks it up. He runs to the A45 before he is tackled. Ruling? Answer: B22's 'get away' signal is an invalid fair catch signal (AR-6-5-3-V & M-3-8-1). The ball is dead where recovered by B22 at the B12 yard line. Penalise B22 for delay of game. B's ball, 1st and 10 at the B7. |
