CHAIN CREWS FOR NFL INTERNATIONAL SERIES, LONDON 2022
Expressions of Interest to be part of the Chain Crew for the NFL International Series are now invited from all eligible members.
Details of the NFL's requirements are still being finalised, however, should you wish to be considered, please apply via email to operations@bafra.info.
Please clearly state for which games you will be available. If you have worked at an International Series game in the past, please detail what role and what year.
I would encourage all members who are eligible to consider applying. However, please be aware that we are always heavily oversubscribed and the NFL insist on some continuity of experience.
We want to give as many dedicated officials an opportunity to work at these major events and unlike some other roles, where longevity is essential, here it is also about "taking regard of the member's commitment to officiating and contribution to BAFRA". If you require further information about any aspect of this important role please contact me directly for an informal discussion.
It should also be noted that each official will receive a game fee for performing this duty but travel expenses are not paid.
On submission of your expression of interest, you will receive an acknowledgement. If you do not receive a reply within 72 hours then contact me to ensure your application has been received.
The closing date for applications is Friday 26th August.

PLAY OF THE WEEK: | |
New this week | Play: Late in the first half Team A is out of timeouts. A pass play on third down ends inbounds at the B-25 short of the line to gain with the game clock showing 0:10. Facing four th down and three, Team A immediately hurries its field goal team onto the field, should the snap be delayed until Team B has had an opportunity to make matching substitutions?
|
Last week | Play: Team A has 11 players in the huddle. A81 mistakenly thinks he/she has been replaced and runs to his/her team area. He/She is immediately sent back onto the field and assumes a position on the line of scrimmage near his/her sideline. The entire team has been stationary for one second before the snap and there has not been a referee’s timeout.
Penalty – Five yards from the succeeding spot, or 15 yards from the succeeding spot if this is judged to be a violation of Rule 9-2-2-b. (3-5-2-d, 9-2-2-b). |
MECHANICS: | |
New this week | Game Situation: On a crew of 8, the widest player in the offensive formation on the press-box side of the field is A9. A81 is stood inside A9. There are no other players on the press-box side of the formation. A81 goes in motion towards the press box side line and is the widest player at the snap. Which official should key on A81?
|
Last week | Game Situation: Team A break the huddle with 20 seconds remaining on the play clock. The Umpire notices that Tight End is not wearing knee pads, how should the crew handle this? Answer: The player is notified that he must leave the game. The play clock (and game clock if running) should not be stopped. If possible, the referee should use his microphone to make a brief announcement identifying the player and his team and the reason why he must leave the field. This announcement should be made from the referee’s position to officiate the next play, and must not delay the start of the next play. If Team A cannot substitute a player quickly enough, then it will suffer a Delay of Game penalty. (AR1-4-8:IV & M3.4.11.b) |
