Issue 26/20 14th October 2020
As you are aware, we are now in the membership renewal period. Renewal forms have now been sent to all members. If you have not received yours please check your spam folder and if you still cannot find it, please contact me. Details of payments, which as always include the BAFRA and BAFA fees, will be on the form along with details on how to pay. Those recently joined are exempt from payment and this was made clear in the email along with details of anyone due a rebate.
If you anticipate having difficulty in paying, please contact the Director of Finance (via firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss a payment plan. This will only be seen by the Director of Finance, and his deputy, in the strictest of confidence.
As always, there will be an annual survey of membership that goes along with the renewal process which you are requested to complete. Information gathered from this exercise is used to inform BAFRA policy going forwards.
Thank you to those who have already renewed, a list of those who have renewed will be circulated separately. If your name does not appear on this list, and you believe it should, please contact me. In addition, please note that all renewals are acknowledged.
In the unlikely event that you are not renewing, please let me know (with your reasons if you wish to share them).

As always, if you can add to this database, please send your information to email@example.com.

PLAY OF THE WEEK:
New this week
Play: 2nd & 8 at Team’s B 40-yard line. 1:56 remains in the second quarter. A66 snaps the ball high to quarterback A10 who has to jump to control the snap. Whilst still airborne at Team B’s 45-yard line, A10 pitches the ball forwards to A88 who has run across the front of A10. A88 runs wide to the right and runs out of bounds at Team B’s 30-yard line. During A88’s run, B24 blocks A73 below the waist 6 yards beyond the neutral zone.
What is the next down and distance? What is the game clock status?
Play: Team A kick off to start the game. B88 makes a fair catch at Team B’s 12-yard line. A30 was offside at the kick. If Team B wish to keep the ball where will the next snap take place.
New this week
Game Situation: 1st and 10 at the A40, team A run an option play. While under pressure at the A35 quarterback A3 throws a backwards pass to A20, who muffs the ball at the A30. The ball then bounces on the ground and goes out of bounds at the A32. How should the covering officials make use of bean bags to indicate spots of interest in this play?
Game Situation: Team A break the huddle with 20 seconds remaining on the play clock. The Umpire notices that Tight End is not wearing knee pads, how should the crew handle this?
Answer: The player is notified that he must leave the game. The play clock (and game clock if running) should not be stopped. If possible, the referee should use his microphone to make a brief announcement identifying the player and his team and the reason why he must leave the field. This announcement should be made from the referee’s position to officiate the next play, and must not delay the start of the next play. If Team A cannot substitute a player quickly enough, then it will suffer a Delay of Game penalty. (AR1-4-8:IV & M3.4.11.b)
