AGM
Given that it will not be possible to have a physical AGM this year, the directors have agreed that all of the business that would usually be conducted at the AGM will be conducted electronically so no-one has to leave their own home to participate. All members should have received an email explaining how to submit questions to the AGM and how to vote for the BAFRA Charity for 2020. In addition, qualified members should have received ballot papers relating to Director elections and the appointment of the Company Accountant. If you have not received yours, please check your junk mail folder and if you still can’t find it, please email me.
The dates for AGM questions and the return of the voting papers are all detailed. Please note that the questions must be submitted via me and the votes sent to the BAFRA Returning Officer via retruning@bafra.info.
It is my intention to publish an AGM report at the conclusion of the process.

OFFICIALS AWARDS
It is with great pleasure that I can announce on behalf of the selection committee that the winners of this year's BAFRA member awards are as follows:
The Official of the Year - Liam Wooton
Alan Wilson Award - Leanne Spencer
Normally, these awards would be kept secret until our awards presentation at the convention. As we won't be having our convention at the normal time, the board wanted to ensure that the winners were recognised for their contribution to BAFRA as soon as possible and not have to wait until the revised convention date.
Please join me in congratulating them both. They will receive their plaques at the convention in October.
Roger Goodgroves - Director of Operations
2020 ANNUAL BAFRA EXAM
In previous years, the BAFRA annual exam was made available at 17:00 on the Saturday of the BAFRA convention weekend. Although the convention will not go ahead as planned, all qualified members are required to sit the exam and the exam period will commence as originally planned at 17:00 on 4th April 2020. The exam will be made available in the examination area of the BAFRA members website.
As always we encourage associate members to sit the exam as well, please discuss with your mentor.
This year there are two noteworthy differences:
Due to the Coronavirus, we have had to adapt our plans slightly but as agreed with the board, we feel that the additional 2 weeks to complete the exam this will adequately allow for the disruption caused.
Please read the first pages of the exam (and the answer sheet instructions) especially carefully this year as there are several additions to accommodate the new format.
As always, questions during the exam period can be sent to exam2020@bafra.info
Kind regards,
Stuart Young - Chair, BAFRA Examination Committee
PLAY OF THE WEEK: | |
New this week | Play: 4th & 6 at the B-16 yard line. There are five minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. Team A line up in a field goal formation. The snap is high and hits the holder in the facemask and bounces forward, while the loose ball is rolling about players from both teams scramble to recover the ball, players from both teams muff the ball in the process, the ball is not recovered and rolls out of bounds at the B-8. What is the next down and distance? What is the clock status?
|
Last week | Play: Late in the first half Team A is out of timeouts. A pass play on third down ends inbounds at the B-25 short of the line to gain with the game clock showing 0:10. Facing fourth down and three, Team A immediately hurries its field goal team onto the field. Should the officials prevent the snap to give Team B an opportunity to substitute?

MECHANICS: | |
New this week | Game Situation: On a normal scrimmage down team A line up in an I-formation with 5 linemen numbered 50 through 79, and 3 receivers. A wide and a slot receiver line up on the Line Judge's side of the field. The wide receiver indicates to the Line Judge that he is on the line, the slot receiver makes no signal to the official and it is not clear if he is lined up on or off the line of scrimmage. Team A run a pass play, all receivers run patterns more than 3 yards down field and the QB throws a legal forward pass beyond the line of scrimmage. Ruling?

Last week | Game Situation: What are the 3 categories of Offensive Holding?
