2012 EXAMINATION

This is just a reminder in case you missed it last week. The 2012 examination will be available to members this year from after the AGM via the website. If anyone is unable to access via the website, if they let me know, I will send them a hard copy. Please note that it is mandatory for qualified officials to sit the exam if they are to retain their qualified status. Associate officials are encouraged to attempt the exam as it is a good guide to them and their trainer with regard to their progress. If any affiliate members wish to attempt the exam, they are welcome to do so.

NO GAMES THIS WEEKEND 31TH MARCH/1ST APRIL

Both BAFANL and BUAFL have agreed not to schedule games on both the weekend of the BAFRA Convention and the weekend of Coaches Convention. Some requests for officials to cover games this weekend have been received but NO games will be provided officials. Should you be asked to work such a game, it has NOT been sanctioned by the BAFRA Directors or the BAFA Board and is therefore NOT covered by insurance.

If you require any further guidance on this matter please contact me.

Bath Killer Bees

The field markings were accurate, but they were painted in blue and were very hard to see. This was despite there being no other markings on the field. The team areas were marked between the 20-yard lines. The changing room was very nice, but a good 15-minute walk from the field.

Answer next issue...

Last week

Game Situation: Team A punt from midfield. Team B line up with two punt returners, B23 is on the B10 line on the Head Linesman's side of the field while B80 is on the B5 line on the Linejudge's side of the field. On a 6 man crew, how should the deep wing officials work together to ensure that the punt returners are covered?
Answer: M-5-12-1. All officials must record all players who have been called for an unsportsmanlike conduct foul. This ensures that all officials are aware when a player could suffer a mandatory ejection for a second such foul.
