FINANCIAL MATTERS
All expenses over £10 were posted by Wednesday this week. This covers all games for which paperwork was received by 17th June. If you have not received yours by 29th June email me and I will investigate.
The only team in the Senior league BAFRA are not covering is Hull. The only pre paid team is Sussex, all other teams should pay crews on the day. Please do not put mileage claims in using the online non payment system, if you forget to claim please email billing@bafra.org.

TRAINING MATTERS
A number of new members are currently undergoing training. Please think whether you can help this with either training, buddying on games or as a mentor.
A new supply of poloshirts has arrived, those who have done ten games and have not received one please email me your name and size and I will try to get out next week. The College Bowl shirts were posted on Wednesday.

REVISIONS TO BAFA DISCIPLINARY CODE
The BAFA Board has agreed some changes to the BAFA Disciplinary Code to reflect the changes that have occurred in the structure of the sport this year. The main change is that appeals against disqualification are now made direct to BAFA rather than to a league disciplinary committee. There are also revisions to reflect changes to the playing rules that provide for video review of serious fouls.
The revised Disciplinary Code (edition 3.2) can be found online at
http://www.bafra.org/rulesctee/rulebook/2010/discipline.pdf.

MATCH DAY WITHDRAWALS
There have been a few instances recently of people not turning up for games on Sunday and only notifying the Referee on the day but not letting me know. If you are unable to work a game, no matter how late the decision, can I ask that you contact me immediately you know so that I can work on trying to plug the gap.

Sheffield Predators |
90 Yard Field with field markings a combination of metres and yards. (eg. last 10 yards to end zone 10 yards, and 40 to 40 were 10 metres). Apart from that, the field was very well marked out. Predators charged a time out in first quarter because ball boy promised had not been allocated, then rushed to get one for the Lancashire sideline. Ball boy on Predators sideline was changed at half time. Mark Snow #430 |
04/07/10 v Shropshire Revolution |
|
Sussex Thunder |
Excellent facilities at Broadbridge Heath stadium, except for goal posts which were only about 14ft tall. Water and fruit provided in officials changing room much appreciated. Officials for future games should note to park in the Bowls Club car park; you may be clamped if you park in Tescos. Jim Briggs #31 |
04/07/10 v London Blitz |
|
South Wales Warriors |
Changing Rooms Inadequate. Ray Grace #272 |
11/07/10 v Oxford Saints |
|
East Kent Mavericks |
Played at Folkestone RFC. No team area line or limit lines. No numbers or 9-yard marks. Hashmarks faded as the game progressed and with no hashmarks at the sidelines. Officials assistants changed on multiple occasions throughout the match. Tim Ockendon #481 |
11/07/10 v Colchester Gladiators |
|
West Coast Trojans |
Kick off delayed for 19 minutes due to late arrival of Referee due to transport issues (tyre blowout). During the first half the ambulance was replaced, with the same crew remaining. The game was briefly suspended while it was ascertained that the medical requirements were still met. 2 members of the chain crew did not re-appear after half-time, requiring head linesman to seek and brief new assistants. Home team charged with game management delay penalty. Ben Griffiths #228 |
27/06/10 v Clyde Valley Blackhawks |
|
Outstanding items from previous weeks |
||
|
Norwich Devils |
On arrival at the venue for the scheduled 1200 kick-off, the crew were informed that kick-off was not in fact until 1430. The home team had also made no provision for payment of officials or BAFRA owning to an issue with their bank account. Tim Fisher #439 |
Essex Spartans 04/07/10 |
|
Oxford Saints |
Oxford have returned to their previous high standards. The Official's room was a reasonable size and the refreshments were much appreciated, even if some of these were sampled by a visiting injured BAFRA official. Martin Gibson #197 |
Nottingham Caesars 27/06/10 |
|
Sheffield Tomahawks |
Although the field markings appear perfect the field is measured out, at least lengthways, in metres. Both coaches were notified about this as obviously we had to use the chains, meaning that it was possible for it to appear that a drive started on a yard line would gain a first down after an apparent nine and a half yards! Plaudits to Tomahawks management who paid us in exactly the right notes and coins! Tim Vickers #129 |
11/07/10 v Nottingham Caesars |
|
Gateshead Senators |
This Reports is also applicable to the preceding Youth Game (Gateshead Senators vs Leeds Varsity Bobcats). Chain crew in the first half of the youth game were slow and inattentive, changed by home team at half time. The chain crew in the second half did a very good job.As with all games at Gateshead there were soccer and hockey markings on the field (which were a mixture of White & Green). No 3-yard mark, no 9-yard marks. Ben Griffiths #228 |
Dundee Hurricanes 27/06/10 |
|
Maidstone Pumas |
Played on a 90-yard field adjacent to the previous 70-yard field. Goals were scaffolding poles strapped to soccer goals. Soccer and other markings were clearly visible on the field and, in places, were below the normal level of the field. These were not enough to cause trip hazards though. Tim Ockenden #481 |
27/06/10 v London Olympians |
|
Birmingham Bulls |
Kick off was delayed by half-hour while chain set was brought from Birmingham University who had borrowed them. Brian Yates #29 |
11/07/10 v Tamworth Phoenix |
|
Coventry Jets |
Game kicked off 27 mins late due to late arrival of London Blitz (bus problems). No numbers or 9-yard marks on the side of the field opposite the press box. Coaching box line only 4 feet from sideline and team area only 8 feet from sideline on each side. Very inattentive ball boys. Jim Briggs #31 |
03/07/10 v London Cobras |
|
Bristol Aztecs |
No 9 yard marks. Kick off delayed by 12 minutes because of Ambulance and confusion over KO time. Chain crew kept changing throughout the game and even changed during the pregame briefing. Dave Knight #135 |
27/06/10 v Farnham Knights |
|
Lancashire Wolverines |
Chain Crew and one ball person changed at half-time which required the Linesman and Line Judge to re-brief the assistants. Ben Griffiths #228 |
27/06/10 v Hull Hornets |
|
Note: it is possible that any game may be cancelled, or any team may arrange additional games. Any dates mentioned here are intended only as a guide. |

PLAY OF THE WEEK:
|
|
|
New this week |
Play:
A's ball, try, on B's 3.
A6's kick is partially blocked. B65 recovers the ball on B's 2
and, without momentum, runs the ball into his own end zone. As B65
is being tackled in his end zone, he throws the ball to the ground
just in front of him (illegal forward pass). Result of play?
Next play?
|
|
Previous week's play |
Play:
A's ball, 4th and goal, on B's 18. The score is A14-B20. QB
A12 throws a legal forward pass to airborne A88 who, while still
airborne, bats the ball forward toward B's goal line. A84 catches
the ball on B's 3 and crosses B's goal line with the
ball. |
