BAFA RECOVERS DEBT FROM BSAFA

BAFA has confirmed the recovery of debt from the officers of the former BAFA member association that represented university football – the British Student American Football Association (BSAFA). The full payment was received (out of court) including BAFA's costs.

BAFA has also categorically confirmed there are no plans to to re-instate BSAFA as a member organisation of BAFA. BUAFL is the member body for university football. Since BSAFA was and is an unincorporated association, its officers are primarily liable for any debts it incurs, subject to a right of

recovery from its members. Accordingly until all monies owed to participants in the sports by BSAFA are discharged, those officers will not be capable of being registered as BAFA members in any capacity within the sport. This applies to both current BSAFA officers and past officers where the indebtedness occurred during their tenure.

FLAG DOWN

A reminder that we are planning to publish another edition of Flag Down in July, provided enough material comes in, which it hasn't yet.

As well as the usual long articles, we would like to encourage as many people as possible to contribute a short item (even just a few sentences would be welcomed) on one or more of the following topics:

"My best ever call"

"My worst ever call"

"Memories of BAFRA Conventions past"

"The rule I would most like to change is..."

Thanks

GAME MANAGEMENT REPORTS

HOME TEAM

REPORT

NEXT HOME GAME

22/06/08

Manchester Titans

Start was delayed by 5mins due to the slightly late arrival of the away team. Manchester only had white shirts available. Both coaches agreed to play with different coloured numbers/ panels on shirts. The match was played without problem or confusion. The crew would like to offer plaudits for the excellent attitude of the players and coaches of both teams. It was a hard-fought game played in very windy conditions that was a superb advert for the game.

Keith Alldritt #323

03/08/08 vs Lancashire Wolverines

Norwich Devils

No separate referee's changing room. Referees had to change in shower area.

Lee Baker #413

13/07/08 vs Ipswich Cardinals

Maidstone Pumas

East Kent's red jerseys were not a complete contrast to Maidstone's orange jerseys. This made some calls difficult to make.

Jim Briggs #31

Peterborough Saxons

There were no team areas marked and no numbers on the field

Muz Gibson #268

  Outstanding items from previous weeks

Southern Sundevils

No 9yd marks or numbers. Goals too low and wide. One end zone only 8yds deep. Ball persons had to be changed in the third quarter - one was asleep and the other, while keen, wasn't quite up to it. Note that this was Southern's last game in Portsmouth - their next game will be at Southampton University's ground.

Jim Briggs #31

06/07/08 vs Kent Exiles

Coventry Jets

The paysheet was given to the game manager prior to the game. The treasurer said he would meet officials near the entrance after the game to pay. A plaudit to East Kilbride for flying all the way down to London, getting stuffed 42-0 but still remaining cheerful throughout!

END ZONE

PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: A's ball, 4th and 2, on A's 12. Punter A4, unable to get the kick off, runs wide and fumbles while in A's end zone. A63 catches or recovers the ball on A's 4 and advances to A's 16.

Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: B47 intercepts A14's legal forward pass in B's end zone. B47 fumbles while still in B's end zone and the ball rolls into the field of play and then out of bounds when the ball hits a goal line pylon.

Ruling: Impetus only involves the ball going from the field of play into an end zone. B47's fumble is the impetus since the the ball went from the field of play into B's end zone. There is no foul. Safety. This is the only option. B's ball, free kick, on B's 20.
