BAFRA offers full training to all new officials through an online six-module training programme Induction Training Calendar followed by a Competency Exam. A pass on this Exam will clear you to take to the field. Alongside this training, all members will be partnered with a mentor – an experienced official in your area who will provide on and off-the-field support. Training continues on the field in competitive games where performance will be monitored providing you with a continuous improvement program. Once cleared by your mentor, the Director of Training, and other observers, you will be a fully qualified BAFRA official.
Support continues after qualification including an annual training convention every Spring and local events. Ultimate progression in the UK could take you to Elite level – see Elite Program – and even officiating internationally with IFAF.
There is an initial payment of £30 to cover the cost of training materials. Once you take to the field you can earn fees for each game – see annex - and you may be entitled to reimbursement for travel expenses policy – see policy.
The minimum age for officials is currently 16, though members under 18 will require parental consent and will be restricted in the category of games they may cover.
If you are interested in discovering more, complete the form and we will contact you at a time that works for you.
