BAFRA Newsflash


This year we received a total of 142 returned exam papers, all of the results were sent out earlier this week on Monday 15th May. If you have not yet received notification of your results, please e-mail


Since the results have been returned we have, as always, received a number of queries and requests for clarification. Thanks to all officials who have taken the time to review the results and contact us, we ask that if any members are still planning to seek any clarifications that these be sent to the above e-mail by no later than midnight on Monday evening (22nd May). For those members who have submitted a query, you should receive confirmation of receipt within 24 hours of submission and we will be responding formally to all enquiries on or around 23rd May.


In next week’s Newsflash I will provide a summary of the results.

The West and Wales officials will be holding a training day at the University of Bath sports training village on Saturday 27th May. This will start at 11.00 and will cover the exam as well as other topics using videos and model pitches. The field is 80 yards and marked well but some of the lines are very faint and hard to see. There are areas of the field where there is no grass and the lines are painted straight onto the soil. The team areas were marked to the 20 yard lines. Chains broke a couple of times.

100 yd field. No 3 yd marks. Limit lines too close to sideline. Due to renovation at facility changing rooms were in main building which required drive to field. Humber provided children's entertainment. During 4th Quarter spectators verbally abused officials. Gameday manager (HC) informed and spectators removed from field.

90 yard field, has field numbers present of the correct size but they incorrectly start at the 5-yard line each end [10 on 5, 30 on 25 etc]. Changing rooms not lockable. Several delays during the game requiring suspension to treat injured players.

Ambulance was called but advised that they would not send ambulance as was not on priority list. Credit to Northumberland player (specialist) who assisted in immediate medical care on field.
